Tryouts For Potential Provincial NTCC Teams for 18U Girls and 19U Boys

 

Training Plan For Any/All VNS NTCC Provincial Teams.  Training will be evenings in Metro.

July 5-9 and July 12-16, plus July 19.  Depart for NTCC's on July 20.  NTCC Women - Winnipeg and NTCC Men - Toronto.

NTCC Format.  Testing & Practices run by national team staff on July 21/22.  Competition July 23-25.  Return to NS on July 25

 

Training Plan For VNS 15U/17U Girls Not Attending NTCC and for 16U/18U Boys Not Attending NTCC

July 26-30 at St. Francis Xavier University and August 2-5 at Acadia University

August 5 - Depart For Moncton

August 6,7 - East Coast Elite Championships in Moncton

 

 

In the summer of 2010, Volleyball Nova Scotia will offer a number of provincial elite team programs for both indoor and beach volleyball.  

INDOOR PROVINCIAL TEAMS 2010

Girls 15U (2 teams).  Born 1995 or later.  Both teams will compete in the East Elites in Moncton on August 6/7.  The teams will train for two weeks:  July 26-30 and August 2-5. 

Girls 17U (2 teams).    Born 1993 or later.  This is the age grouping for the 2013 Canada Games and this summer's program will represent the first of four summers that will identify and start to prepare the potential players for this team.  VNS will offer two teams this summer.  One team will attend the NTCC competition in Winnipeg (July 20-25) and possibly the East Elites in Winnipeg (August 6-7).  The second team will compete in the East Elites in Moncton on August 6/7.  The training for these two teams will be as follows:  

NTCC Team.  Training July 5-9, July 12-16, all two sessions per day, plus July 19 (am).  If it is decided that this team will also attend the East Elite tournament, the team will resume training on or about August 3.                                                                                    

East Elite Team.  The training for this team will be July 26-30 and August 2-5.  All two sessions per day.

Girls 18U.  Born 1992 or later.  This team will compete in the NTCC tournament in Winnipeg on July 20-25.  Training will be in Metro three evenings per week plus weekends which will have two sessions per day commencing late June.  

 Boys 16U (2 teams).  Born 1994 or later.  Both teams will compete at the East Elites in Moncton, August 6/7.  Both teams will train twice per day from July 26-30 and August 2-5.

Boys 18U (1 team).  Born 1992 or later.  This is the age grouping for the 2013 Canada Games and this summer's rogram will represent the first of four summers that will identify and start to prepare the potential players for this team.  This team will attend the NTCC tourament in Toronto on July 20-25 and possibly also the East Elites in Moncton, August 6/7.  The training will be twice daily on July 5-9, July 12-16 and the morning of July 19.  If it is decided that this team will also attend the East Elite tournament, the team will resume training on or about August 3.  

Boys 19U (1 team).  Born 1991 or later.  This team will compete in the NTCC tournament in Toronto, July 20-25.  Training will be in Metro three evenings per week plus weekends which will have two sessions per day commencing in late June.  Moving forward with this particular team is dependent of early commitment of a sufficient number of players with the appropriate calibre.                               ----------------------                                                                                                                                                                                          

ID Camps.  ID camps identify the athletes who are selected to participate in the Final Selection Camp for our indoor elite provincial team progams.  Cost - $15/athlete.  Athletes who were on VNS provincial team programs in 2009 are not required to attend the ID camps.  An athlete can attend any of the following ID camps.  All camp will use the same time frame:  5:30 registration, on court from 6 pm to 8 pm. Each athlete is required to bring their own indoor volleyball that is high quality.

Final Selection Camp.  Cost - $40/athete.  This will be held on June 4, 5, 6 for age groupings and genders.  VNS expects to announce the location and venue shortly which is expected to be at a Nova Scotia university.  Testing will occur on the evening of June 4, with two per day sessions on August 5, 6.  Travel, meals and accommodation arrangements are the responsibility of each athelte's family.  -----------------------

Team Funding.  The 15U girls, 18U Girls, 16U Boys and 19U Boys teams will all be completely self funded.  VNS expects to receive some limited funding to assist the 17U Girls and 18U Boys from Nova Scotia's support of Canada Games teams.  Fund raising opportunities will be provided for all teams and athletes.                                                                                                                            -----------------------

Nova Scotia University Coach Involvement.  Several Nova Scotia university coaches have indicated their intent to contribute to the 2010 provincial team programs by commiting one or more single days to provide assistance with training sessions.                                -----------------------

Coach Honorariums.  Included in the budgets for all teams will be coach honorariums  as VNS aspires to secure the best available coches.                                                                                                                                                                                                        ----------------------

Coach Applications.  VNS invites applications for head and assistant coach positions for all 2010 VNS Provincial Teams.  The deadline for receipt of applications is May 14.  Please indicate the specific team(s) that you wish to be considered for an pleae indcate head coach or assistant coach or either.  Where interviews are appropriate, these will be conducted on May 27                                      ----------------------
