Volleyball Nova Scotia Invites Applications For Full Time Position - Technical Director

Volleyball Nova Scotia is pleased to announce the invitation for applications for the full time position of Technical Director.  This is a new and exciting position with the organization aimed at enhancing player and coach development throughout the province.  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the following qualities:  an extensive background in volleyball, enthusiastic communication skills, strong abilities to inspire and educate players and coaches in a variety of settings including clinics, camps and training sessions.  These are considered core activities for the position.

The successful candidate will generally play a role in the ongoing advancement of technical development for volleyball.

The successful candidate will also play a lead role in Volleyball Nova Scotia's provincial team program including participating each year as a head coach of one of the provincial teams.  

Volleyball Nova Scotia is able to offer this position with fiancial assistance from Sport Nova Scotia's Support 4 Sport Program.

The base salary for the successful candidate will be commensurate with qualifications.  Group benefits are available.

Coaching Clinics (NCCP)

NOTE: It is Volleyball Nova Scotia's policy that ALL head coaches must be fully certified Level One through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) in order to coach a team at the VNS Provincial Championships. In addition, 18 & Under must have completed their NCCP Level 2 Technical course.

Please check www.coach.ca to ensure that you have all of the components required for certification: Theory, Technical and Practical.

Theory

Theory Courses are conducted through the Sport and Recreation Commission in all regions of Nova Scotia via local recreation departments.

Technical

Technical Courses are conducted by Volleyball Nova Scotia in all regions of Nova Scotia with the cooperation of local recreation departments. Additional clinics can be booked depending on numbers. Please contact Volleyball Nova Scotia for courses in your area.

Practical

 

A candidate must complete a Practical component to become fully certified. Following a Technical Course a candidate must log a required number coaching hours. The requirements for each Practical component are:

Level One - Forty (40) hours of coaching after the completion of the Level One Technical clinic.

Level Two - Eighty (80) hours of coaching after the completion of the Level Two Technical clinic.

Level Three - Completion and pass of a Volleyball Canada Level Three program including mentoring and tutoring by master coaches.
