Welcome to the second half of the season. I just wanted to re-iterate a couple of the new rules for this season.
Centre Line Rule - All Age Categories
It is permitted to totally cross the center line with any part of the body (except for the feet) as long as there is no interference with the opponent's play. It remains illegal to totally cross the line with 1 foot or both feet. A part of the foot (or feet) must be in contact with, or above the line.
Serve-Receive Rule - 16U And Younger Age Categories
Receiving a serve overhand with the fingers (like a set or a volley) is ILLEGAL and shall be called. Any such attempts will be called by the official regardless of the quality of the contact. A "beach dig" contact is allowed however. The referee shall use the "double-contact" signal to indicate an infraction to this rule.
Substitutions
This is no longer High School season. Therefore, substituting the same two players six times is not allowed.
18U Boys and Girls and 16U Girls are allowed 6 subs only as they play with a Libero. These subs are "limited". This means that the principle of A-B-A is used. "A" is the starter, "B" replaces "A", then later in the set "A" goes back into her original position by replacing "B". "B" can no longer re-enter the set.
16U Boys and 14U/15U Boys and Girls are allowed 12 substitutions as they play without a Libero. These subs are "limited". This means that the principle of A-B-A is used. "A" is the starter, "B" replaces "A", then later in the set "A" goes back into his original position by replacing "B". "B" can no longer re-enter the set.
