In 2016, the National Team Challenge Cup (NTCC) will be the largest elite/provincial team tournament held in Canada with 20+ teams/gender and will see Canada’s next generation of high performance athletes compete for their home province/territory.

Hosted at Queen’s University in Kingston, ON (men) and the iconic Richmond Olympic Oval in Richmond, BC (women) from July 13-17, 2016, the elite championship will bring together the best coaches and athletes in the country, who will then have an opportunity to represent Canada with the Youth National Development Program (YNDP).

“It’s great to see the expansion of our elite program to include the 16U division and the broadening of the selection process for the next generation of national team athletes,” said Volleyball Canada Men’s Head Coach, Glenn Hoag.  “This is an important step in the pathway to the senior team, and I’m looking forward to seeing the feedback from our development coaches on these athletes from across the country.”

“Talent identification and development is very important to the future of our National Team programs,” said Arnd Ludwig, Volleyball Canada Women’s Head Coach. “I’m happy to see this new approach. I’m looking forward to an expanded elite championship.”

The 16U & 18U Divisions will start round robin play on July 14th with the Gold Medal matches on Sunday, July 17th.

The National Team Challenge Cup will be webcast by viaSport.

Several matches will be streamed on both Saturday & Sunday, including the Award Ceremony and YNDP Selection announcement.
