Team NS Program Information:

For the summer of 2019 VNS will be offering the following Team NS programs:

  • Team Atlantic (18U)
    • 1 Male Team - Head Coach Angus Rhuland (Halifax, NS), Assistant Coach TBD, Mentor Coach TBD
    • 1 Female Team - Head Coach Nathan Wareham (Corner Brook, NL), Assistant Coach TBD, Mentor Coach TBD
    • Tryout Process:
      • ​Regional (Each Province):
        • Each of the 4 Atlantic Provinces will hold a Regional Tryout in Spring 2019, athletes selected from that tryout will form the Provincial Delegate and will be invited to attend the full team tryout at Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS.
        • Cost of Regional Tryout is set by each Province.
      • Full Team Tryout (All Provincial Delegates together)
        • Provincial Delegates attend the full Team Tryout at Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS, July 7th-11th
        • Athletes will be housed in residence at Dalhousie, meals will be provided through meal hall.
        • Detailed schedule to be provided at a later date.
        • Athletes will be notified on the evening on July 11th whether they have made the final roster. De-selected athletes will then travel home on July 12th. 
        • Cost of Full Team Tryout (July 7-11) TBD.
    • Team Training (Final Roster):
      • Team Training in Halifax, NS, July 12th-17th
      • Team Training includes on-court sessions, IST Sessions & Support, Team Activities
      • Team will be housed at Dalhousie University, meals will be provided through meal hall.
      • Detailed schedule to be provided at a later date.
      • Cost of Team Atlantic Final Roster Team (July 12-21) is TBD.
    • Team Competition (Final Roster):
      • Canada Cup, Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS - July 18th - 21st, 2019
      • Team will be housed at Dalhousie University, meals will be provided through meal hall.
      • Athletes will travel home on the evening of July 21st.
 
  • Team NS Canada Cup (16U)
    • 1 Male Team, 1 Female Team (10-12 athletes per roster)
    • Tryout through Open EDC Tryouts/EDC (July 4th-7th, Acadia University) (Details on tryouts listed below)
    • Training July 10th-12th, BHPCC, Bedford, NS
    • Training July 14th-17th, Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS
    • Competition: Canada Cup, Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS - July 18th - 21st, 2019
 
  • Provincial Team (17U/15U)
    • 1 Male Team 17U, 1 Female Team 17U
    • 1-2 Male Team(s) 15U, 1-2 Female Team(s) 15U
    • Details on tryouts listed below
    • Training July 13th-16th, BHPCC/CGC, Bedford, NS
    • Training July 22nd-24th, BHPCC/CGC, Bedford, NS
    • Competition: Eastern Elite Championships, Canada Games Centre, Halifax, NS - July 25th-27th, 2019



TRYOUT INFORMATION FOR ALL PROGRAMS:
*Note: All Team Atlantic and Team NS Programs use the Calendar Year for eligible Date of Birth (January 1st - December 31st) which is different than the Club Calendar 16-Month Year.


Team Atlantic (M/F) - NS Delegation Tryout Information:

Team NS 16U Canada Cup & Provincial Team Tryout Process:

  • Step 1EDC Open Tryout
    • Attend an Open Tryout in your region to possibly be selected to attend EDC.
    • Any athlete born in 2002 or 2003 is welcome to attend the 17U Open Tryout, and any athlete born in 2004, 2005 (2006 may be considered - please email TD Megan before registering) are welcome to attend the 15U Open Tryout 
    • Athletes attend ONE Open Tryout only - but it can be in any region.
    • From these tryouts our coaching staffs may select players to attend the EDC.
    • 2018 Team NS Athletes do not have to attend open tryout and will receive a direct invite to EDC.
  • Step 2Elite Development Camp (EDC)
    • Athletes selected from Open Tryouts, as well as 2018 Team NS athletes, are invited to compete at EDC.
    • Provincial Team rosters will be selected from this camp. (More info below)
  • Step 3Provincial Team Training & Competition
    • Selected teams will train in July and compete in the Eastern Elite Championships as noted above.
 
Canada Cup
  • As stated by Volleyball Canada, Canada Cup (formerly NTCC) will bring together Canada's next generation of high-performance athletes to compete for their home province/territory in a true national championship.
Elite Development Camp (EDC) Information:

Over 100 of the top athletes from across the province will be invited to attend the 4-day Elite Development Camp (EDC).

  • Elite Development Camp:
    • Will be held at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, July 4th-7th, 2019 and will have over 20 coaches in attendance. The coaching staff will deliver 2-3 on-court training sessions a day, combined with daily Integrated Service Presentations & Support (Mental Performance, Nutrition and Strength & Conditioning) culminating with competition at the end of the camp, along with daily life skills development and yoga recovery. Accommodations and meals will be included. The cost is $425.
    • After the completion of the EDC, selection committees will email offer roster spots for our 16U Canada Cup Team, as well as the 17U & 15U Provincial Teams,  who will train later in July (dates listed above) in preparation for either Canada Cup or Eastern Elite Championships taking place in Halifax, NS from July 18th-21st or 25th-27th, 2019 respectively.

Eastern Elite Championships
  • The Eastern Elite Championships are a high-level competition between the four Atlantic provinces which include: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, P.E.I, and Newfoundland and Labrador.
